About THNK
THNK Holding B.V. (hereinafter: THNK) is responsible for processing your personal data within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (‘GDPR’).
THNK Holding B.V. is the sole owner of THNK Social Enterprise B.V., THNK Innovation B.V., THNK World B.V. This privacy policy extends to govern the subsidiaries of THNK Holding B.V. All of these entities are located at Plantage Middenlaan 45, 1018 DC Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
THNK designs and delivers in-person and online leadership trainings, as well as owns and operates THNK World platform for leadership development. For any questions you might have please email amsterdam@thnk.org.
Under the GDPR, THNK does not have the obligation to appoint a data protection officer (‘DPO’).
General information
This Privacy Policy applies to the use of personal data by THNK Holding B.V. also trading under the name THNK School of Leadership. We at THNK are committed to respecting your online privacy and recognize your need for appropriate protection and management of all personal data collected by or submitted to us, or carefully selected third parties acting on our behalf.
We believe it is important that the personal data of the users of our products and services, visitors to our websites, our potential customers, our customers, our potential participants, our participants and our future partners are treated carefully and that you are well informed about the way in which we process your personal data. We have drawn up this privacy policy to tell you what data we process, how, why and for how long we do so and what your rights are.
In this privacy policy, “personal data” means any information relating to a natural person who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identification number or to one or more factors specific to his, her or their physical, physiological, psychological, economic, cultural or social identity.

What personal data we collect
THNK offers products and services, for which it processes personal data of its users. THNK collects information about you when you complete a form for our Open Enrollment or Custom programs, when you place an order, when you submit a cancellation or withdrawal request, when you voluntarily complete surveys and provide feedback, and when you subscribe to THNK World platform. Moreover, website usage information is collected using cookies. For more information, see the "Use of cookies" section below.
The types of personal data we collect include:
- email address
- first and last name
- address
- telephone number
- date of birth
- education
- years of work experience
- current job title and organization
- organization’s name, address and VAT number
- topics of interests
- social media profiles
- other information related to the motivation, needs and expectations of the products and services THNK offers
- order, registration, invoice, contract, payment, cancellation and refund information
- information submitted through cancellation or withdrawal forms, including name, email address, order or contract reference, program or service name, order date, company name, withdrawal statement, additional information, submission timestamp and correspondence records
- all information that we collect and store from you online in connection with your account, such as your username and password
- any information we collect and store from you online related to the use of our products, such as IP address, date and time of the request, time zone difference from Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), content of the request, access status or HTTP status code, amount of data transferred, website from which the request comes, browser, operating system and interface, language and version of the browser software, location data, identification number of your device, name of the device, unique number of the device (IMEI), unique number of the network subscriber (IMSI) and MAC address for WLAN use
- marketing preferences, including consents you have given us
- in the case of surveys or feedback, in addition to the above, we process additional personal data. The nature and scope of the personal data can vary in these cases. Further information on this will accompany the survey or feedback concerned.
- in case a participant or other user visits our website and platform, our services may store automatic information, such as URLs, IP addresses and browser types
- any other information you provide to us when you communicate with us
When we collect personal data from you
We collect and process data when you:
- register online by submitting an online form and place an order for any of our products or services
- visit our website
- request support for our products and services
- create a user account
- request information or materials
- submit a cancellation, complaint, refund or withdrawal request
- use the online withdrawal function made available by THNK
- voluntarily complete a participant survey or provide feedback
- contact us
- apply for a job and submit your CV
When we collect personal data directly from you, we indicate whether the provision of personal data is mandatory. This is the case when we need personal data to comply with legal or contractual obligations: if such data is not provided, we will not be able to manage our contractual relationship or fulfill the obligations to which we are subject. In all other cases, actively providing requested personal data is optional.
For what purposes we use your personal data
We process personal data for the purposes of providing our services, within the framework of training programs, education, community building and management, and in order to comply with contractual and statutory obligations.
Personal data supplied by prospective participants, participants, clients, users and website visitors is processed for the following purposes:
- registration for the purposes of education and training programs
- to provide education, including online education
- administrative purposes, to enable courses to be attended and the payments for these to be collected
- to process payments, invoices, cancellations, refunds, complaints and withdrawal requests
- to confirm receipt of cancellation or withdrawal requests and send related customer communications
- to keep an internal audit trail of cancellation, refund and withdrawal request handling
- to process requests for information about training programs
- to provide training and course choice support
- to monitor study progress
- to provide study counseling
- information purposes
- to provide more detailed updates on current developments, events, webinars and similar activities
- to email newsletters, invitations to participate in surveys, information on your participant account, your participant status and other necessary information from THNK School of Leadership
- continuous improvement of the quality and accessibility of facilitating and social impact by, among other things, conducting research and carrying out and processing surveys and their results
- to compile user statistics
- to promote security and improvement of our websites
- to improve and deliver customized services
- to comply with applicable legal, regulatory, tax, accounting, consumer protection and contractual obligations
- to establish, exercise or defend legal claims
In the case of surveys or feedback, personal data is processed for the purposes of the survey or feedback. Further information on the way in which personal data is processed will accompany the survey or feedback concerned.
On what legal grounds we process your data
The processing of personal data of prospective participants, participants, clients and users is essential for the execution of the agreements and contractual obligations of THNK. This includes processing registrations, providing Courses and Services, processing payments, handling cancellations, refunds, complaints and withdrawal requests, and sending confirmations or other service-related communications.
We may also process personal data where this is necessary to comply with applicable legal obligations, including obligations under consumer protection law, tax law, accounting rules and other statutory requirements.
THNK has a legitimate interest for the processing of personal data of participants, prospective participants, website users and THNK World users for the purposes of managing, analyzing, maintaining, optimizing and securing THNK products and services, preventing abuse and fraud, determining strategic analyses and reports on THNK products and services, handling disputes, and maintaining appropriate business records and audit trails.
THNK complies with applicable laws and regulations and protects our legitimate business interests and legal rights, including use in connection with legal claims, compliance, regulatory and investigative purposes, including disclosure of such information in connection with legal proceedings or lawsuits.
All personal data of prospective program participants, program participants, clients, website visitors and users, for example an email address, used by THNK for promotional use and the ability to send a newsletter, is processed on the basis of consent where required.
In addition, based on your consent where required, we will send you direct marketing communications regarding our relevant products and services or other products and services provided by us, our affiliates and carefully selected partners. You can withdraw your consent at any time, see the section “Your rights” below. In the case of electronic direct marketing, you can unsubscribe by following the instructions in the communication.
You can also register for our newsletter or receive invitations to events using your name and email address via the registration form on our website. You can unsubscribe from receiving emails at any time by following the instructions in the newsletters. If you are already a customer, we may contact you about relevant products or services, in our legitimate interests to develop our business. We may do this via email or, if your email is registered with LinkedIn, contact you on LinkedIn or send you messages on LinkedIn. If you are not yet a customer of ours, we will only contact you, for example by email or LinkedIn, with offers or about our products or services if you have given us permission to do so. Whenever we contact you via email in this context, you always have the option to unsubscribe at any time by contacting amsterdam@thnk.org.
How we use your information
We collect information about you in order to answer your queries, to assess if you could be a candidate for our programs and online services, to provide our products and services, to manage our contractual relationship with you, to process cancellations, refunds, complaints and withdrawal requests, and, if you agree, to email you about products and services we think may be of interest to you.
We use your information collected from our websites to personalize your repeat visits to our websites. THNK does not share your information for marketing purposes with other companies.
THNK shares personal data with third parties to support the performance of its services, on the basis of a statutory provision or in case of an emergency if this is, in the reasonable opinion of THNK, in the interest of its users. This includes legitimate requests of authorities, summons or court orders, acts to investigate or prevent damages or fraud, or acts to guarantee the safety of our network and our products and services.
How we store your data, data transfer to third parties
THNK securely stores your data online, through verified and trusted, GDPR-compliant software providers such as Google, HubSpot, Salesforce, Shopify and other service providers used to operate our websites, checkout, communications, customer relationship management, administration and services.
THNK may use the services of third parties to process your data in accordance with this privacy policy. These parties can be located outside the European Union or they can use servers located outside the European Union, including in the United States. The level of the right to protection of personal data may be lower in these countries than in the European Union.
We do work with some sub-processors who are possibly located in a country or otherwise process personal data on a data server outside the European Economic Area. This will only be done in accordance with applicable privacy legislation and with the approval of the European Commission where required, including the application of appropriate safeguards including, but not limited to, the Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework of the European Commission. In addition, an adequate level of protection and security is guaranteed and the conditions of Chapter V of the GDPR are met.
Recipients of personal data
We work with third parties to provide you with our websites and our products and services. Where necessary, we share your data with our service providers and professional advisors, for example in the areas of IT, hosting, checkout and payment processing, CRM providers, logistics, telecommunications, sales and marketing, legal, finance and compliance. These third parties act exclusively on our instructions and are contractually obliged to comply with the provisions of the GDPR. When we share your data with these parties, we ensure that appropriate safeguards are taken to protect your information.

All prospective participants, participants, visitors of our website and users of THNK World platform have certain rights under the GDPR to manage their own personal data.

However, there are some exceptions to these rights. For example, it is not possible for us to delete your data if we are legally required to keep it, if we need to keep it in connection with a contract with you, or if we need to keep it to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. Likewise, access to your information may be denied if making the information available would reveal personal information about another person or if we are prohibited by law from disclosing such information.
How long we keep your personal data
We do not store your personal data for longer than is strictly necessary to achieve the purposes for which your data is collected. Your personal data will not be stored for longer than the duration of the use of our products and services or the contractual relationship with regard to our products, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law, necessary for our legitimate business interests, or necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. After that time, your personal data will be deleted.
Personal data related to orders, registrations, payments, cancellations, complaints, refunds and withdrawal requests may be retained for as long as necessary to administer the contract, comply with legal, tax, accounting and consumer protection obligations, maintain an appropriate audit trail, and establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
In addition, in the event of a threatening legal dispute with you or in the event of other legal proceedings, the storage of your data may take longer than the stated retention period.
Legal requirements for storing and deleting personal data remain unaffected. If the retention period prescribed by statutory provisions expires, the personal data will be deleted, unless further storage by us is necessary and there is a legal basis for this.
Security of personal data
We maintain a high standard of security and take appropriate technical and organizational measures to ensure a risk-appropriate level of security in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. These measures are in accordance with the current, general state of technology, in particular to prevent misuse, loss, unauthorized destruction, modification, disclosure or access by third parties of personal data. Personal data is only accessible to employees and authorized service providers involved in the processing of personal data. Nevertheless, we are not liable if, despite the measures taken, third parties manage to gain unauthorized access to personal data.
In the unlikely event that you discover a data breach, it is of utmost importance that we are informed immediately. You can report data breaches directly to amsterdam@thnk.org. Your report and personal data will be treated confidentially at all times.
Use of Cookies
In addition to the personal data mentioned above, when using our web pages and when using our products, technical tools are used for various functions, in particular cookies, which can be stored on your device, such as a computer or smartphone. Cookies and similar technologies are small text files or information in a database, which are stored in the device memory of your device and are assigned to the product you use. Social media buttons
We may use plugins from social media networks, such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter, on our web pages and in our products. You can recognize these plugins by their logos. We also use plugins for the embedded video players found on our web pages. Our plugins do not collect any personal data from you unless you click on these logos or videos. When you click on it, these plugins are activated and automatically transmit data to the plugin provider.
This means that when you surf our website, no personal data is initially collected by the providers of these social media plugins. Your personal data will only be transferred if you click on one of the plugins. By activating the plugin, data is automatically transferred to the respective plugin provider and stored by them. This privacy policy does not apply to external parties or external web spaces and any processing of personal data by parties outside THNK or its group companies is not covered by this privacy policy.
